Stress! Are you stressed out??

Posted on 2012-02-10 08:22:56

Is your stress level at its MAX???  Take a minute and think about your lifestyle including the 3 dimensions of life: the chemical, the emotional, and the physical.  What are you doing to satisfy these 3 areas properly?

Each Monday, I receive "The Weekly Sticky" in my email inbox and this week's note really caught my attention in regards to our educational materials used in our office to explain chiropractic relating to lifestyles.  Let me take a minute and share what I learned from this week's sticky.

How can a person protect themselves from STRESS?  In our houses, we have a circut box that controls all of the electrical outlets and the appliances that we use.  Let me ask you, what happens when you plug multiple appliances into one outlet and turn everything on at the same exact time?  YOU BLOW THE CIRCUT related to the area where the outlet is located, right?  How can relate this to chiropractic?  This same thing can happen when someone surges an unprotected nervous system with STRESS!

Picture your Nervous System as an electrical outlet with multiple stressors plugged in to it.  What happens when you turn all of these stressors on at the same time?  The nervous system is overloading, therefore causing SUBLUXATION!  Depending on what nerves or circuts are blown, a person could possibly experience symptoms including minor aches and pains to more in depth health problems including hypertension (Journal of Human Hypertension, 22,1: G Bakris, MD et al.)

While it is impossible to deplete all of the stressors in our lives, we can guard ourselves against the unexpected surges by maintaining optimal wellness through regular Chiropractic Care.  Therefore, what is a Chiropractor's role in preventing those unexpected surges?  Chiropractors perform their job much like a surge protector by checking the nervous system for overloads and ADJUSTING each circut to perform at its optimal level.

In conclusion, when it comes to our body's job to fighting stress and dis-ease, nothing beats keeping the power turned on with CHIROPRACTIC CARE!!!!

Top 10 things I've learned about Chiropractic!

Posted on 2012-02-03 13:39:10

My name is Alli and I started working in the field of chiropractic about 6 months ago.  My husband recently graduated from chiropractic school and we now work together at Mouw Chiropractic.  It has been fun and interesting to work with my husband, and even more interesting to learn more about the world of chiropractic!  I have learned so much in the last few months that I thought I would share with the world my favorite top ten chiropractic truths:

 1.  The body heals itself.

2.  Chiropractic helps the body heal from the "inside-out" versus from the "outside-in".

3.  Suppressing symptoms, such as a fever or inflammation, stops the body from healing itself.

4.  Ice is a much better form of therapy on a sore area of the spine than heat.

5.  There are 3 types of stress that can cause a subluxation (misalignment) of the spine:  Chemical, Emotional and Physical.

6.  The way you think has physical effects!  Thinking positively helps you heal. Adversely, thinking negatively can cause you harm.

7.  Pain is the last symptom of a problem with your nervous system.

8.  The Sensory nerves (which transmit pain and pressure) are only 10% of the overall nervous system.

9.  Your posture can tell you alot about what is happening on the inside of the body.

10.  The muscles on your back need to be stronger than the muscles on the front of your body.
